The Krav Maga Federation was created to honor and preserve the relationship between Grandmaster Haim Zut's schools in Israel and the United States. Grandmaster Zut is the highest ranking practitioner (Dan 10) of Krav Maga in the world, and his federation, Krav Maga International-Kapap, is recognized as being the governing body of Krav Maga in Israel. His schools produce the highest caliber instructors who adhere to the most stringent standards of teaching and training.
In a time when the art of Krav Maga struggles to maintain its authenticity while unqualified practitioners exploit and dilute the style for financial gain and recognition, these standards are crucial. The leaders of Krav Maga International-Kapap/Krav Maga Federation share an unwavering commitment to the true art of Krav Maga: to follow the moral code set forth by Imi Lichtenfeld (creator) and carried on by Haim Zut, to properly educate tomorrows fighters, and to continue to respect what the art represents to the State of Israel and its people.

The Krav Maga Federation is dedicated to upholding the standards set by the founding members of the original Federation for Krav Maga and Self-Defense--Imi's Method. In 1978, in minutes of the first meeting of the original federation, the following goals were set by Imi and the founders:
1. To train and to teach Krav Maga and other fighting systems such as Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, Karate and the like, and to encourage participation in sports and physical fitness of all forms.
2. To oversee all Krav Maga participants according to Imi's method and to grant diplomas that confirm their ranks.
3. To come in contact with other organizations with similar goals.
4. To create in Israel an organization that will be non-partisan, non-political, and independent of other sports organizations and that will become the singular highest authority for Krav Maga according to Imi's method. This will be an organization that will be supported by Israeli and non-Israeli authorities.
5. To turn Krav Maga into a national self-defense method, and to preserve its purity.
6. To allow those who are interested in training to achieve their goals.
7. To oversee the attainment of these objectives while remaining a non-for-profit organization.

In 1998, Master Instructor Rhon Mizrachi (Dan 5), Dror Bikel (Dan 2), and Seth Rosen first arrived at the concept of creating a Krav Maga federation that would emulate the federation created by Imi, Haim, and the other founding members. Remaining true to Imi's vision would be the principal goal of this organization. In accordance with this purpose, a partnership of schools in the United States and Israel was created - a means by which to promote and preserve the purity of Krav Maga. The Federation has appointed Dror Bikel, in his capacity as the Federation's attorney, President of the Federation, a position that includes the supervision of the Federation's administration, and the coordination of Federation events, both nationally and abroad.
